Personal
James Leising is Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Education, Communication and 4-H, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. As department head, he is responsible for leadership, management and accountability of the unit. Prior to his appointment as Professor and Head, Dr. Leising was Supervisor of Teacher Education at the University of California-Davis from 1976 to 1995.
A nationally recognized scholar, teacher and consultant in Agricultural Education, Dr. Leising is the co-author of three books, numerous journal publications and papers on subjects of secondary agricultural education, agricultural literacy and the infusion of global agricultural perspectives across the curriculum.
Dr. Leising has been active in professional organizations, serving the American Association for Agricultural Education as Western Region President, National President and Secretary. He served as Second Vice President of the National Honorary, Alpha Tau Alpha and as chapter adviser of the UC-Davis, Gamma Chapter for fifteen years. Dr. Leising has chaired the Editing Managing Board for the Journal of Agricultural Education and has been Associate Editor for the Journal of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Education, American Society of Agronomy.
Dr. Leising has had international experience in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Japan, Thailand and China.
