SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

School Enrichment;

Grady County Extension's Youth Development programs reach into each school in Grady County. Many other school enrichment programs provide an excellent opportunity for the teachers to implement teaching methods that allow more of a hands on educational experience for the students. The following programs are the most popular in Grady County.

Chick Embryo Program: The most popular program in Grady County is the Chick Embryo program. This program can be implemented into a variety of educational areas. Students get the opportunity to set and rotate the eggs for 21 days in anticipation of a successful hatch. This program allows teachers to supplement their science classes with hands on activities for their students. The excitement of a successful hatch in a school leads to a memorable experience for all involved.

Anti-Tobacco Program: This program was developed by Grady County Extension Educator, Susan Murray. The abuse of tobacco in youth is becoming a larger health problem due to the glamorization of tobacco by celebrities.This program provides education material and pictures of the health hazards of tobacco use. The visuals of this program show the damage that tobacco induces to a human body and it organs. Games are also implemented to make the educational experience a fun and memorable learning event.

Other programs include the use of grow lights and the Ag In The Classroom material.
